Ruby played on the Grand Ole Opry when she was nine years old- she’s unreal. As far as I know, she’s only played a five string fiddle once. She sat in with a band at Artz Rib House in Austin a few months ago- she didn’t bring her fiddle, she used the fiddle of one of the band members, it had five strings. She played beautifully, but when she came back to the table she said, “I’ve never played a five string fiddle before, man, those strings are sure close together”.
An awesome entertainer and fiddler. I haven’t heard the likes of that fiddle since I last heard Johnny Gimble! I’m surprised that her fiddle doesn’t have a fifth string.
Pardon my spelling, that should be “personality”.
Ruby Jane is not only an awesome fiddle player, she’s as sweet as can be, and she’s that way all the time to everyone she meets. This video is a good example of what beautiful peronality she has. As Marty Stuart said of her, “She can melt a rock”.
