No. That is why most people get a Liberal Arts education at college. A businessman has to be able to talk to hundreds of different people. Having a varied background is a big help.
Much of what you do to run your own business can not be taught in a classroom.

You can be a self-made businessperson, sure. Going to school gives you the opportunity of asking questions and seeing what currently sells or works. The Small Business Administration has classes you can take for a fee (no certificate or anything is given). Then you would need to do a five year business plan which you can find on their website. The problem without going to school (even to get a 2-year vocational degree) is that if your biz fails you have nothing to fall back on for income and employers would be hesitant to hire you for fear you’d take their customers from them (and it is a real temptation to do so). Most small businesses fail within the first 5 years, and new taxes are coming in for the small business owner in 2010 that will make it tougher for an owner to stay in business. So check things out and get some education to fall back on. A lot of people work for many years and when the luster of working for someone else wears off then they start their own business. Also those who are older who are dropped by businesses because of age or health problems are the ones who open their own business so they have some way of having income along with their government benefits.

in order to start your own business all you really need is a product or service you can perform well at a competitive price. The more demand the more successful you will be. A degree will teach you how to run your own business and manage people money etc. There is a lot to learn. I would suggest going to school because if your business fails and i hope it doesn’t you’ll have something to fall back on.
